Farm Hacks: How Google Drive will save your farm

Paper documents still hold their merit in certain situations. Nothing feels quite like holding that land title in your bare hands, or perhaps your operation’s partnership agreement. However, there is something to be said for the greater efficiencies of storing files on the cloud – and making them accessible anywhere, by anyone you choose.

In our last article, we discussed the importance of digitally sharing the Fire Safety Plan with everyone in your team, because an emergency might hinder the ability to access the paper copies. In this step-by-step guide, we’re using the Fire Safety Plan document to illustrate how easy it truly is to share similar crucial documents. We even included a video tutorial for computer, and an image album for iPhone.

From a computer

Upload into Google Drive
  1. On your computer, go to drive.google.com.
  2. Click “New”, and select “File Upload” or “Folder Upload”
  3. Select your file(s) from the upload window

OR

Drag files into Google Drive
  1. On your computer, go to drive.google.com.
  2. Open or create a folder.
  3. To upload files and folders, drag them into the Google Drive folder.

 

Using your iPhone:

Upload & view files

  1. On your iPhone or iPad, open the Google Drive app.
  2. Tap Add .
  3. Tap Upload.
  4. Find and tap the files you want to upload.
    • To upload photos or videos, tap the photos and videos you want and tap Upload.
  5. You’ll see a status bar at the bottom of your screen. To view your file, tap Locate.
